The first Monday of May has rolled around again and A-list celebrities and fashionistas have donned their finest for New York's Met Gala.
Each year the event is themed and this year the guests were asked to choose an impossibly delicate and ephemeral outfit inspired by the Garden of Time.
The 2024 dress code references the Metropolitan Museum of Art's latest showcase "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion".
The edgy theme was inspired by J.G. Ballard's 1962 dystopian short story, the Garden of Time, about super-rich elites hiding from a riot of the "great unwashed".
Guests were invited to choose an outfit that referenced mortality, destruction with "clothes so fragile that they can never be worn by a person again," Vogue said.
Vogue US editor-in-chief and lead chairperson of the gala event Anna Wintour named Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny as her co-chairs.
