Two brothers wanted over a fatal stabbing in Melbourne at the weekend have been arrested in country NSW.

Victoria Police homicide detectives will travel to Goulburn where Abhijeet Abhijeet, 26, and Robin Gartan, 27, were arrested on Tuesday morning.

The pair are expected to face court for an extradition hearing.

The brothers had been on the run since the early hours of Sunday, after a 22-year-old man was killed and a 30-year-old was injured at an Ormond home in Melbourne's southeast.

It's believed the parties involved in the incident were known to each other.

Emergency services were called to the house on North Road about 1am following reports of a dispute.

Upon arrival, the two men were found with stab wounds.

Victoria Police on Monday released the names and photos of the brothers in a plea for help from the public on their whereabouts.
