VINTAGE SALE 

ABBOTSFORD CONVENT

Hundreds of genuine and curated vintage and designer garments and accessories, including millinery, shoes, bags and haberdashery, will be on offer at this one weekend-only fundraising sale. This Saturday and Sunday at the Abbotsford Convent's Industrial School. Entry by gold coin donation, with all proceeds to the National Trust.

JEWELLERY FOCUS

ABBOTSFORD CONVENT

Presented as part of Melbourne Design Week, convent-based jeweller Katheryn Leopoldseder's innovative New Day exhibition features contemporary jewellery and objects which explore the convent's history, coupled with stories and audio-digital responses from musicians, photographers, animators, and actors. The exhibition will be opened with an address by master jewellery designer and living treasure Marian Hosking on Sunday at The Store, 2-4pm.

DISCO LAUGHS

ABBOTSFORD

Sharing the room with a giant disco ball, a string of comics will take to the mike at Bodriggy Brewery's Sunday evening On the Gags session. The returning event, hosted by comedian Eddie Duffield, aims to "highlight the disco and fun of comedy" and organisers promise "the best time". With Ivan Aristeguieta, Blake Freeman, Oliver Coleman, Aurelia St Claire, David Quirk, Prue Blake, Matthew Vazquez and Louis Walls. 7pm upstairs in the Stingrays function space.

VISIBLE MENDING 

BURNLEY

Born from the Japanese art of sashiko, visible mending uses brightly colored or contrasting threads and patches to make the repair a feature of the clothing item. Learn the basics and practice simple stitching techniques at this Burnley Backyard workshop. Not only an opportunity to upcycle beloved items but also to connect with local community members. Sunday 10am to 1pm. Bookings through the Richmond Community Learning Centre.

ISLAND ARTWORK 

HERRING ISLAND

Held as part of the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival, the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria's ninth annual A4 Artwork exhibition showcases the "affordable" work of 200+ established and emerging artists from across Australia. The Herron Island Gallery is accessible via a Free Parks Victoria punt service from Como Landing. This Saturday and Sunday from 11.30am to 4.30pm (and until April 18) www.herringislandfestival.org.au

REUNION PARK 

BURNLEY CIRCUS SITE

A pop-up performance precinct that opened at the Burnley Circus site this month will host a range of local and international acts over the next three weeks, including circus performances and Melbourne Comedy Festival shows. On Friday, "one of electronic music's most intriguing producers ", DJ Seinfeld will be "keeping the dance-floor energy high" while on Saturday indie rock foursome Spacey Jane will play both all ages and 18+ gigs. www.reunionparkmelbourne.com
