Outdoor dining areas at several Yarra City eateries established under a Victorian government-backed COVID-19 adaptation scheme are set to close at the end of this month.
The Yarra City Council said that under the Local Government Act and on advice from the Department of Transport the road closures that enabled the dining spaces could not be continued.
The Warm Hug Cafe in Richmond, Ms Frankie and La Manna and Sons in Cremorne and Molly Rose Brewing in Wellington St, Collingwood, will all have to close their outdoor areas.
The areas were initially due to close at the end of March but the council voted to extend their status until the end of June.
There had been an expectation the closures would be made permanent.
Meanwhile, the council is seeking feedback on proposed road treatment changes to the Yambla Street/Gray Street and Trenerry Crescent corridor in Clifton Hill and north Abbotsford to improve safety.
