A Richmond man has been left fighting for his life after he was hit by a car while crossing Hoddle St on Tuesday night

Police are appealing for information about a collision on Tuesday night that left a Richmond man fighting for his life.

The 54-year-old was crossing Hoddle St between Victoria St and Elizabeth St when he was hit by a car just after 7.30pm.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 48-year-old woman driving the vehicle, a black Nissan X Trail, stopped at the scene and has been assisting police with their inquiries.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the accident or who has dash cam footage of it.
