SHOT IN THE HEART

The annual exhibition of the Australian Association of Street Photographers opens on Thursday, "an artistic and candid homage to the people that breathe life into the streets of Australia's cities and towns". Join a free session with 'Garden Like a Nonno' author Jaclyn Crupi for practical advice on winter gardening. Jaclyn, who learnt about gardening from her frugal and practical forefathers, says winter is a wonderful time in the productive garden and she is keen to pass on her inherited wisdom at this one-hour event. Saturday, July 30 11.30-12.30pm, Collingwood Library, 11 Stanton St, Abbotsford. Bookings required. Visit https://library.yarracity.vic.gov.au/

REPAIR CORNER

BURNLEY BACKYARD

Richmond Repair Corner this Sunday still has slots available for jewellery repair and clothes mending and leather restoration. (Bookings required. Visit rclc.org.au). "Bring us your broken goods, and we shall try to fix them!" say the enthusiastic volunteers involved in this initiative, who repair household goods, mend clothes, fix broken furniture and make new things from used materials while minimising waste, sharing skills and "having a few cuppas together". Register online to find out about and book ahead for upcoming sessions, which are held on the last Sunday of every month, 10am-12pm at Burnley Backyard.
