A crowd of more than 12,000 turned out for the RecLink Community Cup at Victoria Park on Sunday, where Triple R and PBS team Megahertz again triumphed over The Rockdogs by a slim margin.

The outcome of the match came down to the closing minutes of the final quarter, with the community radio team winning by two points - 48 to 46.

The event, a fundraiser for RecLink's sporting programs for people facing disadvantage which was last held in 2019, featured a range of musical entertainment, including a surprise appearance by Ross Wilson, who performed a punk version of his classic, Eagle Rock.

Its theme was 'Let Love Rule', an acknowledgment of the life's contribution of musician Archie Roach.

A RecLink Community Cup will be held in states around Australia over the coming weeks.

A recording of the Melbourne event will be broadcast on Channel 31 on Saturday, July 9 from 2-5pm and July 10, from 11.30pm.
