From ACT to Queensland: Police request public help in 'mummified' man case

Police are calling for public help in the suspicious death of Tomislav Nemes who was found "mummified" in his Gold Coast home on April 17.

Officers found the man's body, with no observable injuries, in bed and believe he could have been deceased for more than 12 months.

Scientific examinations are ongoing but the death is being treated as suspicious, police said.

The 69-year-old man moved from ACT to Queensland in 2018 and settled in a Benowa home with his wife and stepson.

The occupants of the Edinburgh Road property had groceries and other necessities delivered and rarely left the house, police sources told the ABC after the body was found in April.

A relative requested the police perform a welfare check after Mr Nemes' stepson allegedly claimed the 69-year-old was unwell and would not see visitors, the sources said.

Friends, family and associates of Mr Nemes based in ACT, Queensland or wider Australia are encouraged to contact police.

Detectives are also calling for information from anyone who visited the Edinburgh Road home in recent years.

Investigations remain ongoing.
