Australia Day and a summer long weekend is fast approaching, whichever way Aussies choose to mark it.

While the national public holiday is not considered a restricted trading day there will be some changes among retailers on January 26.

WATCH: Aldi has joined Woolies in scrapping its Australia Day merchandise ahead of the public holiday.

Here is ACM's guide to what's open on Australia Day.

What's open Australia Day

Coles

All supermarkets will be open except in South Australia.

Only these South Australian locations will be open: Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Berri, Port Augusta, Mount Barker, Adelaide Rundle Place, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gambier and Victor Harbor.

Woolworths

All South Australian and Tasmanian stores will be open and most stores in Victoria, NSW, ACT and the NT.

In Queensland most stores are open but due to the cyclone, Charters Towers, Bowen and Ayr will close at 2pm on January 26.

In Western Australia most stores are open except Esperance and Katanning.

ALDI

ALDI stores in NSW, ACT and Victoria will all be open as normal on January 26.

Queensland stores will have reduced trading hours, opening from 9am-6pm, and trading hours in South Australian and Western Australian stores will vary.

Dan Murphy's and BWS

Most Dan Murphy's stores will be open from 9am until 9pm, and BWS from 10am to 7pm, individual stores may vary.

Bunnings

All Bunnings stores will be open.

Kmart

All Kmart and Khub stores will be open in NSW, Victoria, ACT and Queensland.

All in Western Australia will be open except for Esperance.

Only the following South Australian locations will be open: Rundle Mall, Mt Gambier, Mt Barker, Port Lincoln, Victor Harbour, Murray Bridge, Darwin, Alice Springs, Coolalinga, Katherine, Port Pirie, Whyalla, Broken Hill, Berri, Port Augusta and Kadina.

Target

All Target stores will be open except in South Australia where only the Centrepoint store will be operating.

Big W

BIG W stores will be open, except Queensland's Kingaroy location. Some stores may have different opening hours than usual.

Individual stores trading hours may vary.
